Mareike Böhmer is a user interface designer from Germany. She plays with textures, colors and shapes in her artwork to (re)create a world in which the border between photography and graphic design is blurred. Whether preconceived or created on a whim, Mareike’s graphic artworks all have one thing in common: they’re colorful, bright and highly abstract. Using a plethora of forms and Photoshop as her toolbox, each piece evolves into a mosaic of colors and rough textures. Mareike draws inspiration from the clear, timeless lines found in Scandinavian design as well as the vibrant world of urban street art in her favorite city, Berlin. Nature also serves as an endless source of inspiration, as she transforms trees, leaves, flowers, and even the clouds in the sky into motifs reminiscent of graphic patterns. “Creating new artworks is an exciting and surprising journey”, says Mareike, “-you never know what will happen”.
